I really hated missing going this past Friday. For those who don’t know what I’m referring to, I mean the 1st and 3rd Saturday sale, a gathering of geeks and hardware underneath an overpass in downtown Dallas that starts late Friday night and usually goes well into Saturday afternoon before breaking up.

Deals are a definite thing down there, but it takes a keen eye and a suspicious nature to get the best items at stolen prices (sometimes literally!). But alas, since I had just acquired my new toy earlier Friday, I had spent my allowance to go and find some new treasure to add to my collection. Instead, two friends of mine went, one of them on a mission to find a wireless repeater/amplifier to help with wireless network detection on-the-go.

Since it takes place immediately after our classes on Friday’s, I’m thinking we work it so it’s a ‘class trip’ next time it’s happening. Two weeks… just long enough to get the next paycheck and hopefully have enough to take with me.

I have a dream list that I want to get once while down there, getting the cash is another issue altogether. What decent IT guy wouldn’t want at least one rack, a couple 1 or 2U servers to throw in it, along with a mountable switch to help sort things out?

Oh well, there’s always one in two weeks, maybe I’ll get to go then. In the mean time, keep an eye out for treasure.
